About Obsidian One
Creation Process
All my music is created using Renoise, a tracker-based DAW that differs fundamentally from the more common, visually oriented DAWs like FL Studio (Fruity Loops). Instead of relying on a graphical timeline and mouse-driven interface, Renoise uses a pattern editor where musical notes and effects are entered via a grid using the keyboard. This approach emphasizes precision, speed, and control over every parameter, making it ideal for my style of complex electronic, industrial, and experimental music. I've experimented with FL Studio before, but found it slow and frustrating — there's no way I could produce the amount of music I do, in the time I do, with anything other than trackers such as Renoise.
Sample Sources
Most of the samples used to create my music are royalty-free, from free sites such as Pixabay, though I also use professional-quality samples from other sources, including custom samples exclusively licensed to me. As a rule, I don't use AI to create any of my music, though I've very occasionally incorporated an AI-generated sample from free sites. There's nothing overly technical or fancy about my approach — I simply love the process of creating unique music from a variety of sounds, and dedicate much of my time to it.
Musical Influences
Music plays an important role in my life, and I enjoy a variety of genres, including black metal (my favorite), death metal, electro-industrial, electronic, ambient, psychedelic, and experimental. I've also dabbled in rock and hip-hop — though most mainstream music doesn't hold my attention. You can find many of my musical influences on my Bandcamp Fan Page, along with personal reviews of albums in my collection.
A Flame to Walk By
Obsidian One is more than music — it has become an anchor of sorts. It channels my intensity, my emotions, my truth, and serves as an expression of a larger purpose. It helps me overcome patterns of self-destruction and carves a path forward. Each release, each composition, is part of an ongoing process that challenges me to keep creating, and to keep moving forward, the only direction I want to go.
True Art, No Compromises
Obsidian One is about freedom and liberation. I create music without boundaries, refusing to limit myself to any specific genre. This project is about being true to myself and following inspiration wherever it leads. This approach makes the creative process feel natural and effortless. I simply make the kind of music I want to hear — and if others enjoy it, great. In a way, this music also serves as a filter, repelling those who judge by surface appearances or musical style while attracting those who look deeper.
Themes & Concepts
Obsidian One will continue to explore dark themes, which is an important part of my shadow work. That said, there are two sides to Obsidian One, because there is no shadow without light. Both are required for true integration. I view this project as equally important for its light work as for its shadow work. I touch on themes that I'm not yet ready to express publicly in words; nonetheless, Obsidian One has been a healing and transformative process, and through my music, I feel I've said what needed to be said. All my work is deeply symbolic, but none of the symbols should be taken literally — they all point to something deeper.
Name Your Price
All my albums are available on Bandcamp as free downloads. This "name your price" setting allows you to enter any amount, including 0, and the album will be sent to your email address instantly. Obsidian One is a passion project — I have no intention of ever charging for any of my future releases either. I didn't create it to make money (and let's be honest, most people are not going to like my style of music anyway); it's far more important to me to share my work, connect with listeners who resonate with it, and continue creating without restriction. That said, it truly means a lot when someone chooses to support my work, even with something as small as $1, because it shows me my music has reached someone in a meaningful way, and motivates me to keep creating.
Vision & Collaboration
I don't know where this Obsidian One path will lead, but I'll keep creating music as long as I enjoy the process. On a deep, intuitive level, I trust it will take me where I need to go. If your music or philosophy resonates strongly with mine, feel free to contact me — maybe we can collaborate or make something happen (though collaborations are rare and likely to be initiated by me). Also, if you own a website, blog, YouTube channel, or similar platform, it would mean a lot to me to have my music shared there — just make sure you link back to my Bandcamp page. And if you review any of my albums, let me know so I can link back to your site on my reviews page.
